3 Medicare options for Boomers turning 65 in 2017!

The vast majority of Baby Boomers become eligible for Medicare when they turn 65. However, Medicare doesn’t pay all of the medical expenses. Medicare has deductibles, coinsurance, and it doesn’t include drug coverage.

To complete your Medicare coverage, you need to consider the following options.

  1. Employer coverage: If you are covered under an employer plan you will need to determine if it’s beneficial for you to stay on your employer plan or go on Medicare. If you decide to leave your employer plan or do not have employer coverage you need to consider the following options.
  2. Keeping Your Freedom: If you want to go to any provider that accepts Medicare, you will need to sign up for Medicare part A & B as well as purchase a Medicare supplement plan and a standalone prescription drug plan.
  3. Low Cost Option: Most Medicare Advantage HMO plans in orange county do not require monthly premiums nor do they have copays at doctor offices or hospitals (plans vary). You will still need to sign up for Medicare part A & B, and continue paying your Medicare part B premium.
